Objective: The objective of this test is to check for leakage or cracks
in the Bellows attachment welds. This test is used for long
seam welds before and after forming.
What we do:
Spray liquid dye on the bellows and detect the dye seeping into
the defect. The dye is applied evenly on the surface to be
tested. A time for penetration of the dye chemical inside the
defect is allowed and then the dye on the surface is cleaned. A
white powder observant is applied on the surface which performs
a blotting action.
After Completion: An
indication of the dye with the white background characterizes
the surface discontinuities on the bellows. The indication
is then interpreted and evaluated.
